A good candidate should have good oral health and hygiene, adequate jawbone to support the implants, no periodontal teeth and healthy gum tissues, and the patient should be older than 18 years so that his\her jawbone has stopped growing.

Overall, most people are good candidates for this procedure.

People who cannot have this procedure are

First: Implants made of pure titanium metal are placed in the jawbone in place of the missing tooth.

Second: healing of the jawbone and implant, which is called bone fusion or osseointegration, this process takes six months in the upper jaw teeth and three months for the lower jaw. 

Third: The final formula in dental implants, which includes a number of sessions to make the final composition of oral prints and test it for final installation.

They are more comfortable than dentures because they are fused to the jaw bone which means permanent and cannot slip out like dentures

Better speech as you can speak more clearly and with no worry that the implant might fall

Eating is easier because implants become part of your mouth that function just like your original tooth

just like taking care of your real teeth, implants require constant care like brushing, flossing, using mouthwash and regular checkups by your doctor. 

Avoid damaging habits like chewing hard items (for example ice) or things that can cause stains like tobacco or coffee. And how much you take care of them determines how long they will last

After any of the minor operations, (Whether you have dental implant surgery in one stage or multiple stages,) you might have bruising, pain, minor bleeding and swelling of the gums and face. 

After each stage of surgery, you may need to eat soft foods while the surgical site heals. Typically, your surgeon will use stitches that dissolve on their own. If your stitches aren’t self-dissolving, your doctor removes them.

You may need pain medications or antibiotics after dental implant surgery.

No special care is required for a dental implant. You will probably be advised to keep your natural and artificial teeth clean by brushing and flossing and have regular dental check-ups.

There are two techniques of teeth implants: endosteal implant and subperiosteal implant

The main difference is that the endosteal implants are placed directly into the jaw bone “inside the bone”, whereas in subperiosteal implants they are placed under the gum “on top of the bone”. 

Endosteal implants are more commonly used because they provide a better long-lasting result. Yet they require a good amount of bone density for insertion. So, if the patient doesn’t have enough healthy jawbones, then the suitable choice would be the subperiosteal implants.
